The Influence of Knowledge Management on Employee’s Sense of Well-Being with Moderating Effect of Work Engagement

Abstract


There has been numerous research done on the subject of employee's sense of well-being. Among the most studied aspects of employee's sense of well-being focus on the impact of work engagement, workaholism, workplace relationships and work-family conflict on well-being. However, there have not been too many extensive research relating knowledge management (KM) issues and employee's sense of well-being. In addition, this study focuses on understanding on how work engagement plays a moderating role between KM practices and employee’s sense of well-being. The study will cover the employees of academic as well as non-academic from private universities in Malaysia. Based on the prior literature, all the variables and dimensions are discussed in depth. On the other hand, this paper aims to develop a conceptual framework showing knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, knowledge creation, knowledge codification and knowledge retention as a predictor of employee’s sense of well-being and work engagement as a moderating variable. It is anticipated that this study expands the scope on the importance of KM with the effect of work engagement for managers to improve employee's well-being as a priority in organization.
